Overview
Formerly known as Albert National Park, Virunga covers an area of 7,800 sq. km. It was established in 1925 and is the oldest national park in Congo and Africa. Virunga National Park is a UNECO World Heritage site with several mountains. The park is home to most of Africa’s famous mammals and some rare ones like Mountain gorillas, the Okapi and Bongo.
