Destination Congo is the DRC's first dedicated travel guide and listings platform - built by members of the Congolese diaspora who know this country intimately and believe it deserves a place on the world's travel map.

Destination Congo brings together city guides, reviewed hotel and restaurant listings, practical travel information, and local business discovery - so anyone planning a trip to the Democratic Republic of Congo can find what they need in one place, without spending hours piecing together unreliable information from scattered sources.
We cover four cities - Kinshasa, Lubumbashi, Goma, and Bukavu - with in-depth guides to hotels, restaurants, bars, attractions, events, and local experiences. We publish practical guides on visas, transport, health, and safety. And we work with local hotels, restaurants, tour operators, and cultural venues to make their businesses discoverable to international and diaspora visitors.
Destination Congo was founded by members of the Congolese diaspora who shared a frustration: one of the most remarkable countries in Africa had almost no reliable travel information. Hotels were unlisted. Restaurants were invisible. Basic visa and health guidance was scattered across outdated blogs and generic Africa travel sites. For diaspora travellers going home, and for international visitors curious about the DRC, the information needed to plan a confident trip simply did not exist in one place.
That gap was the starting point. Destination Congo launched in 2024 with a clear purpose: to become the first dedicated, trusted travel guide for the Democratic Republic of Congo - built by people who know it from the inside.
In November 2024, Destination Congo hosted its first public event, Welcome to the DRC, at the African Centre in London, bringing together 60 guests from the Congolese and African diaspora community. The platform also launched its first group tour to Kinshasa, designed to contribute more than £40,000 to the local economy. These early milestones reflect what the platform is ultimately about: not just listing places, but actively connecting people to the DRC and contributing to the country's tourism economy.
We are still building: more cities, more listings, more guides, and more partnerships. But the foundation is in place, and the platform is already helping people plan visits to a country that is, in our view, one of the most extraordinary destinations on earth.
The Democratic Republic of Congo is the second-largest country in Africa by area. It has Virunga National Park, Mount Nyiragongo, Lake Kivu, the Congo River, the world's only bonobo sanctuary, a thriving music and fashion scene in Kinshasa, and some of the continent's richest cultural heritage. Yet its tourism potential remains underdeveloped. Better information and stronger connections between visitors and local businesses can help close that gap.
